What is DuckLake?
DuckLake is an open, standalone data lake and catalog format from the DuckDB team. Table data lives in Parquet files, while the metadata is kept in an ordinary SQL database – DuckDB, SQLite or PostgreSQL – instead of a pile of metadata files. aantje makes those catalogs explorable from inside VS Code.

What is DuckDB?
DuckDB is a fast, free and open-source analytical SQL database that runs inside your own process – no server to set up. It reads and writes Parquet, CSV and JSON files directly, and it is the engine DuckLake is built on.
